An AVP for Balulang Community
January 17, 2012

Commemorating a month after the tragedy caused by Typhoon Sendong, Fr. Glenn Pimentel, Parish Priest of Balulang, agreed with the community to have a mass at 6 in the evening. He also requested me to make a video about “Sendong in CDO” and to be presented during his homily.

For several weeks of visiting and serving the place, it is a common thing that people will visit their place during daytime to clean their respective homes and then leave in the afternoon. With this, regular Sunday masses is scheduled at 9 in the morning only. I was doubtful if people will attend the Tuesday evening mass, but to my surprise the pews were filled up with parishioners. Most attendees went there just to be part of the celebration and have to go back to their temporary homes afterwards. I was touched by their faith and trust in God despite the tribulation they had been into… believing that one day they will rise up again and continue their service to the Lord and His people.

To God be the glory!
